The new custom-built of Bongioanni Macchine

On:

TERREAL, looks ahead and renews one of its key lines of Roumaziéres site (Charente), where are manufactured two tiles successfully marketed in 2011 and 2012 (Latitude 12 and Horizon 12).

Roumazières is the biggest European site of tiles manufacture. In the heart of a region with a big terracotta tradition, this Company gathers in one only site all the ability of TERREAL group.

Almost 420.000 ton of tiles are manufactured on site each year starting from the local clay, known for its exceptional qualities. With the aim to maintain its level demand, TERREAL has realized an investment of 1,5 million Euro to equip the production unit with a new press BONGIOANNI MACCHINE CRONO 334 and endow the kiln with an adjustment in line with the modern standards of the technology.

The new press which comes from BONGIOANNI MACCHINE workshops, has been placed through a giant crane of 700 ton on 13th August, 2013. The characteristics of the materials developed by BONGIOANNI MACCHINE meets the exigencies of the terracotta industry: The press CRONO 334 has been chosen by TERREAL for its modern mechanical conceiving, its stiffness, its ergonomics and for the fact that it is the top of security as regard to the norms in force. The machine is equipped with four metallic moulds and with the technology “electroshock” for the shakeout. With a drum of 1.850 mm and reasonable overall dimensions, it has easily replaced the old press. Therefore the condition, the principle of load and the evacuation line of the products are preserved in the same way. All this, moreover, is realized in terms of very short interventions The concept of the press CRONO gives the stiffness required by TERREAL which in a few words means a decrease of the strains of the machine during the pressing phase and an improvement of the products’ quality.

The lower maintenance costs and the simplicity of use of CRONO 334 have been equally decisive. Among the key advantages of the equipment, TERREAL staff has appreciated the installation of the automatic lubrication system of the compressor’s guides as well as the positioning by the worker of the drum stop face, to facilitate the operations to change the tools (which reduces noticeably the replacing times). Finally the machine is equipped with all safety systems foreseen by the norms in force, such as the programming of a very slow speed necessary when adjusting the tools. This manoeuvre, which authorizes the worker to stay near the press without any risk, is controlled by a double channel system.

With regard to TERREAL

TERREAL develops complete solutions which allow the construction of low consumption and positive-energy buildings according to the demands of the lasting development. Manufacturer of terracotta construction materials, TERREAL proposes manufacturing systems in its three spheres of action: the roofing (tiles, chimneys, solar panels, metallic components), the structure (bricks bearing walls) and the façade (facings, terracotta protections and outside facing walls). Finally, TERREAL develops a complete line to renovate and decorate the buildings (tiled floor, paving tiles, decorating accessories). TERREAL group realizes a turnover of almost 400 million of Euro and employs 2.700 workers throughout the world of which 1.600 in France. TERREAL owns 25 industrial sites in France, Italy, Spain, USA, Malaysia and Indonesia.
